Day 3: JUNE : Drive to Le Couvent de la Tourette. Arrive after lunch. Visit of the Convent. DINNER in the Convent. Night in the Convent.
Day 4: JUNE : Drive to Lyon-St Exupery Airport to have a look at Calatrava’s train station.
Drive to Perouges for LUNCH, a nicely kept medieval town, very well restored.
Drive to Arc et Senant: Visit of the Saline Royale (Royal Saltworks) designed by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux (1736–1806), a prominent Parisian architect of the time. The work is an important example of an early Enlightenment project in which the architect based his design on a philosophy that favored arranging buildings according to a rational geometry and a hierarchical relation between the parts of the project. We go sleep close to Ronchamp. In a delightful manor house.
Day 5: JUNE : We will Visit the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Haut designed by Le Corbusier. An absolutely amazing architectural marvel. The site has been restored as well as the church by Renzo Piano, only one year and one half ago. I never get tired to going there.
We go back sleeping in our delightful little manor house near Ronchamp.
Day 6: JUNE : We will leave after breakfast to go visit the Vitra Factory one of the largest and best contemporary furniture company in the world.
The buildings on the Vitra Campus are unique architectural icons – it was here that Zaha Hadid executed her very first built structure, and American architect Frank Gehry constructed his first building in Europe. For this reason, the Vitra Design Museum not only offers guided tours of its exhibitions, but also tours of the buildings on the Vitra Campus.
These include the Fire Station by Zaha Hadid (1993), the Conference Pavilion by Tadao Ando (1993), a geodesic dome after Richard Buckminster Fuller (1975/2000), and factory buildings by Nicholas Grimshaw (1981/1986), Frank Gehry (1989), Álvaro Siza (1994) and SANAA (2012). The VitraHaus (2010), designed by Herzog & de Meuron, interiors can be explored independently. Five of those architects received the Pritzker Prize of Architecture after designing buildings for Vitra.
From there we will drive to Nancy where we will spend the night.
Day 7: JUNE : Today we visit the house of Jean Prouve, the genius behind some of the best 1950’s furniture et one of the most ingenious creator of easily build structures for housings or businesses. Night in Nancy.
Day 8: JUNE: We drive toward Paris and on the way we will visit Vaux le Vicomte, the castle that made Louis XIV jealous of his finance minister and from where he “stole” the architec, the decorator and the gardener who will a bit later design Versailles. The beauty of it is that we will be visiting the inside of the castle as well as the gardens illuminated by 2,000 candles, like in Louis XIV’s times. There will be also a firework. Then late arrival in Paris.
Day 9: JUNE : We are in Paris and we are not getting up late. There is more Le Corbusier but tomorrow we are going to Villa Savoye. So maybe give it a rest and instead go have a very good fondant au chocolat at the Centre Georges Pompidou built in 1977 by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. The critics were mean considering that the collaboration between an Italian and a British architects on French soil could only create a catastrophe. Still one of my favorite buildings. The technology was brilliant. 84,000 sq ft on each floor without any obstruction. It houses, between many other things, the largest Museum of Modern Art in the world and on the top floor, in the Restaurant Georges, you will have a great view of the city and one of Paris’ best chocolate mousse.
Day 9: JUNE : We are going to Villa Savoye in Poissy, just outside Paris. We should go early so we can come back early to do something interesting and meaningful in Paris, like shopping or maybe just walk around some nice streets and vegetate in a cafe.
Day 10: JUNE : The housings Le Corbusier did for the Swiss and Mexican students at the international campus in Paris are also rather interesting, based on a similar concept already seen in Marseilles. We will discuss earlier what is of interest to you, so we can plan a very exciting day in Paris.
Day 11: JUNE : We will discuss earlier what is of interest to you, so we can plan a very exciting day in Paris.
Day 12: JUNE : Whether you like it or not, you will be driven to the airport to get a flight back home. You will be arriving home in the late afternoon.

Dear Jean,
I was one of 7 on your custom tour of France and Germany to see the work of the famed Architect Le Corbusier.
I know that I personally had a fantastic trip. You arranged visits to 'the' top 4 Corbu buildings and many other wonderful architectural treats.
The Continuing Ed was fun, the food was fabulous, and your help and hospitality were greatly appreciated.
You have my endorsement.
